Whether we are designing a logo, a website front-end or a business card, our purpose is to visually communicate a set of values and qualities through the effective use of graphical elements.
This is a very complicated process and it may require many iterations of research, concept design and review before a professional design moves into production phase. It would of course be quicker to use a generic template for your design, but it will very unlikely portray anything specific to your vision and values as a business.
Process
Typically a design project will go through the following four processes. We have used the logo design for Pure Beginnings, an organic baby skincare range, as an example to illustrate the process.
1. Planning & Research
Understanding what should be communicated and how best to do it.
2. Concepts & Sketches
Brainstorming ideas and concepts and putting them down as design sketches.
3. Reviews & Revisions
Taking feedback from stakeholders and iteratively refining a chosen concept.
4. Production & Delivery
Transforming the design into a usable medium for placement.
Communication throughout these processes is crucial in order to accurately reflect vision and values through a graphic design. To accommodate this, we make use of an online collaborative website that facilitates group discussions and reviews between stakeholders.
